We Believe We Can Fly

We Believe We Can Fly

A lot of talk about flying around here lately. There's something about it...soaring through the air...the freedom in the action.
First, there was Felix Baumgartner with his crazy plan to jump from around 36.5km/23 miles above the Earth's surface with the Red Bull Stratos Mission and break the world's skydiving record, and the sound barrier. However, the wind has been a challenge and he has aborted his planned death-defying free fall due to the weather, postponing his quest to become the world's first supersonic skydiver until Thursday. Something tells us the wind won't stop Felix. Red Bull is said to give you wings, after all. Three words: what a dude.
Then, we caught wind of Agustin's story, courtesy of Tribe member and good friend Arushi...WOW, is this story one to be shared. Agustin's body was ravaged by Polio, though his spirit has prevailed and he has set out to overcome his poverty and disease by building a helicopter. Agustin believes that everything is incredible, and that many people don't accept and give thanks for this fact. When I watched this video, I first experienced the chills. Then I started crying. This is amazing. A dream. A desire. A passion. What a heart. This is special. Please help us in our effort to tell this amazing story, and fund Agustin's effort if you too have a dream.

As if that wasn't enough, we recently came across I Believe I Can Fly (Flight of the Frenchies): another wonderful, inspirational documentary. It’s about having a vision. Flying. Dreaming. Believing. Thinking big. And making it happen. The cinematography is splendid and the music is divine. To learn more and download the documentary (for a small donation), check out the film’s website.

The stories of Felix, Agustin and the Frenchies have inspired us here at Ethnotek. They've inspired us because they each have a strong passion and a dream to conquer a goal and live out a mission and vision that most would deem impossible. And the cool thing about our team is that we don't believe much is impossible, especially with the support of our Tribe...and we like to dream often and dream big. So, our challenge to the Tribe this week is to think more like Felix, Agustin and the Frenchies. Dream big, and you too may be able to "fly" (if all else fails, there's always Red Bull). We believe you can.

Fly away...
